The PFL is a tubing disconnect device that has an internal lock profile for securing flow control equipment.
Applications:
- Operations that require tubing disconnect and re-engagement without disturbing the packer. The internal lock profile is used to retain flow control devices such as plugs, valves, chokes, or regulators.
Features:
- Standard left-hand release, optional right-hand release available
- Bonded seals allow multiple disconnects
- Can be pinned in a shear-up or shear-down position
- Baker type 'F' and 'R' internal lock profiles are standard
- Otis type available upon request
- Parts interchangeable with other manufacturers
Operation:
To disengage tubing - Pull approximately 1,000 lb. over string weight. Hold left-hand torque and lower the tubing string to apply approximately 1,000 lb. down. Continue to hold left-hand torque and raise tubing until the washover shoe clears the seal nipple.
To re-engage tubing - Washover if necessary discontinuing rotation prior to contacting seal nipple to avoid damaging the jay pins. Set-down on the seal nipple to automatically engage the jay pins with the jay slot and pull tension to check engagement.
When using the PFL On-Off Tool with a 7" Ultra-Lok Packer and 2-3/8" tubing, a 5-1/2" x 2-7/8" tool must be used to provide adequate clearance of washover shoe over the top coupling on the packer. lf the tool is to be spaced out with one or more pup joints, the 5-1/2" x 2-3/8" tool may be used.
